This is my favourite page from the first issue of Marie and Jeanne! I’ve gotten really fond of these two girls, which it good, because, well…I’m writing them.

You can catch up with it here. And the next page(next Wednesday!) is freaking stunning, and closes out Issue 1. I say it all the time, but I am SO lucky to work with James.

I’ve just sent Issue 2 off for printing, and it’ll be available at SDCC!

We’re so excited about SDCC! We’ll be in the Small Press Pavillion, at Table P-06.

We’ll have all of our current books available - Marlowe the Monster, I Was a Teenage Gargoyle, Marie and Jeanne, and the Macbeth Signal.

AND we’ll be featuring two books by awesome Teenage Gargoyle contributors, Tara and Paul Abbamondi’s The Stolen Lovelight and Rio Aubry Taylor’s TABE Collection.

AND we’ll also have a FREE ashcan comic by Pinguino! It’s called Swimming with Sake! It’s a preview of a zine series we’ll be publishing about her adventures in Japan. I’ll also be giving away free Marlowe samplers and postcards! Oh man, so much free stuff!

Of course if you like my art, I’ll have plenty of that there too. :)

This page is from an upcoming zine series by Pinguino, tentatively called Swimming in Sake! It is a travelogue about her adventures in Japan.

Pinguino has been a staple of the con circuit for a loooong time(you’ve probably seen her with her gigantic camera setup taking pictures for CBR) and I’m happy to have her on the Sawdust Press roster.

She’ll have a FREE 8 page ashcan at the Sawdust Press table(P-06, in Small Press), so come by and pick one up!

Hullo there,

Unveiling a new project that my husband Paul and I have been working on this last month. The Stolen Lovelight.

It’s about a young woman named Arisia Randir who is stuck in the worst relationship of her life. To escape, she pays for her own kidnapping. Things seem to be going according to plan until she wakes up and discovers that she is all alone on the Brochet Swimmer, the cargo ship that was her means of escape. As she begins to explore the ship, she hears her name called over the intercom.

My name is Shing, and I run Sawdust Press. The recent anthology I published, called I Was A Teenage Gargoyle, which is a musing on early internet fandom, has a large majority of women contributors.

My own (sculpted!)webcomic is at Marlowe the Monster (http://marlowethemonster.com).

Another project I’m working on(writing) is called Marie and Jeanne, which is more or less a road trip friendship story, except with Joan of Arc and a friend from her hometown of Domremy, France. All art is by my old friend James Neish, who draws the most beautiful, amazing, diverse, perfectly proportional, women.

I’ve learned a lot doing this anthology, and there are some things I would definitely change in future work.

The one thing I definitely stand by though, is this list of contributors. They’ve all brought something unique and special in their experiences to this anthology and I love them for it.
