Hullo there,
Unveiling a new project that my husband Paul and I have been working on this last month. The Stolen Lovelight.
It’s about a young woman named Arisia Randir who is stuck in the worst relationship of her life. To escape, she pays for her own kidnapping. Things seem to be going according to plan until she wakes up and discovers that she is all alone on the Brochet Swimmer, the cargo ship that was her means of escape. As she begins to explore the ship, she hears her name called over the intercom.

I know it looks like I reblog everything related to Tara’s comics…but that’s because she’s really good and I love them.
Thank you to everyone who came out to visit Sawdust Bear/Press at Wondercon! I’d type up a con report, but really - pictures of Margaret, the orange sock puppet, are probably much more amusing anyway.
Also, I didn’t get a picture with/of Greg Means of Tugboat Press, but the Papercutter comics…
My name is Shing, and I run Sawdust Press. The recent anthology I published, called I Was A Teenage Gargoyle, which is a musing on early internet fandom, has a large majority of women contributors.
My own (sculpted!)webcomic is at Marlowe the Monster (http://marlowethemonster.com).
Another project I’m working on(writing) is called Marie and Jeanne, which is more or less a road trip friendship story, except with Joan of Arc and a friend from her hometown of Domremy, France. All art is by my old friend James Neish, who draws the most beautiful, amazing, diverse, perfectly proportional, women.
A while back, I asked for creators who identified as LGBTQ to announce themselves and promote their work in a massive thread right here on Tumblr. It got hundreds of responses and tons of links to some incredibly wonderful work, most of which has not yet received the exposure it deserves, quite a…
Come visit us this weekend at WonderCon at the Anaheim Convention Center.
We’ll be in Small Press table 70, and will have on hand copies of the I Was a Teenage Gargoyle anthology, Marie and Jeanne #1, and Marlowe the Monster, as well as a pile of art and sculptures!
the back is also important, because all of these contributors are fucking awesome. (Taken with instagram)
I’ve learned a lot doing this anthology, and there are some things I would definitely change in future work.
The one thing I definitely stand by though, is this list of contributors. They’ve all brought something unique and special in their experiences to this anthology and I love them for it.
hey, it really does feel good to hold your small press’ first anthology! (Taken with instagram)
It’s here! Come pick it up at Wondercon, Small Press Booth #70!
(it’ll be available for purchase online and in cheap ebook format very shortly thereafter.)
Two-page preview of the story I have in the Sawdustpress anthology, I was a Teenage Gargoyle.
Autobio comics! Always a difficult feat for me. This is especially true when they are about me as a silly 15-year-old girl.
I love Tara’s work and I’m so happy to have it in our upcoming anthology(which should be delivered tomorrow. holy crap!).
Coming in March 2012, this anthology is a nostalgic look at early internet fandom.
Featuring the work of 11 wonderful artists and writers, I Was A Teenage Gargoyle collects autobiographical stories of self discovery, identity and friendship from a variety of fandoms such as Sailor Moon, Gargoyles, Les Misérables and more!
